Canal employee history cards, [ca. 1880-1940]

The series consists of card files documenting the employment history of individuals who worked on various enlargements of the state's canal system and the Barge Canal (1880-1920), from the Rome and Utica area (1910-1918), and thereafter those who maintained other segments of the state's infrastructure. Cards change in style over the years, but typically contain the following information: name of employee; address of employee; assignment (district/region number, prior labor service); dates appointed, reappointed, or resigned/terminted/left service; position title or rank; and salary (by date/hour/year).
